林書豪坦言，他並不喜歡「林來瘋」這種突然竄紅的感覺，更不喜歡被人們質疑和憎恨的聲音。面對所有負面聲音和質疑，他選擇用更多的愛來回應，「我將會集中更大心力在正確的事情上，讓自己變得更優秀，我必須投入更多努力」。
林書豪表示，在他飛抵休士頓後，火箭將合約修改為三年2510萬美元，其中第三年合約是頂薪1490萬，不是原先計畫的四年2880萬，「我沒有跟火箭索取更高的合同，那是火箭提出的報價，也沒有所謂的二選一，而我選擇了傷害尼克的決定，我只有一分報價，就是如此」。
